On the whole, I think it would be very difficult for the general public to tell the difference between real Berghaus jackets and a fake one on Ebay or other auction style websites.berghaus-jackets

There are many different styles and colours of these jackets available and the photos of the items for sale on Ebay, especially clothes are not usually very close up as the photos show the whole of the jacket, making it impossible to pick out small details that may expose it as being a fake. Many photos are taken in a professional manner, using a light box or product table to make them look like catalogue photos rather than a photo that was taken in someone’s living room, giving the impression of authenticity.

I have never owned a Berghaus jacket, and on first inspection of the couple of hundred that appear to be listed at present, it would be impossible for me to pick out a real one from a fake. If I was looking for a Berghaus Jacket in particular I would have to do some thorough research into the jackets from a reputable supplier before embarking on a possible Ebay purchase. Even then, I would make sure that the seller has a fantastic feedback rating and I would also read the comments which would indicate what other buyers think about the clothing offered for sale.

Photos can be very deceiving, and text can be glorified to make the buyer believe that they are buying a genuine article. Ebay themselves would not want to have fake items listed on their site, but we all know that the replicas do slip through the net as it is often impossible to spot them by looking at photos.

The question is, if Ebay cannot always spot the replica items, then surely it is an impossible task for members of the buying public to differentiate the fakes from the real articles?

Supermarket Style November 21, 2008

When it comes to purchases clothes for children I would say that value is the most important element. The value however has to be good quality or it usually becomes a false economy!

I don’t believe that paying two or three times as much for childrens outfits just because they have a designer slogan or label to them necessarily makes them a good quality item and I have experienced poor quality items with logo’s that are older children want.

Some how ever have been fine and I feel with older children the need to break the bank occasionally for them to have a few items to dress with more value items works well and helps to keep them trendy or like their friends and so boost there self esteem.

I do however feel it important for children to understand the value of there choices as to benefit them for when they are older and for them to basically learn learn that at times it’s nice to have a treat but it would be foolish to do this all the time and to teach them how to make some clothing look fashionable and be good value by using a mixture of clothes.

Does the office need shirt and cufflinks October 12, 2008

I think the offices that require shirt and cufflinks are ones that are stuffy and out of date. What is the point of cufflinks anyway, especially those stupid novelty ones that look like aeroplanes or golf clubs? For people who want to look professtional in front of customers and a company that wants to be taken seriously, then the shirt and suit would seem the way to go but more often than not it can give off the impression of a dodgy car sales man.

Why should a person be pigeon holed into only wearing the classic suited and booted look with the crisp white shirt and cuff links? A crisp Lyle and Scott polo shirt can look just as smart but give the impression of a funkier company up to date with it’s times. A company where the worker matters. A company that realises most people are not suckered in by the suit and short back and sides any longer.

The modern day office paints a picture where workers can go into work later, finish earlier and spend most of their time facebooking. The days when shirts and cuff links are a must in an office are long gone or are they?

Do men actually want to go into the office in their ’street’ clothes. There are some men out there who are actually happy when they get cuff links for christmas, they like to collect their freshly laundered crisp white shirts from the dry cleaners, hell some of them even like to iron those shirts! Putting on a suit can make a person feel important and give them a confidence boost.

It is easy to look stuffy but if a man take time when shopping for work attire he can look cool as well as professtional just remeber, you will not be taken seriously if your shirt is two toned, you wear a novelty tie or your cuff links are shaped like aeroplanes and you are not a pilot. Be careful lads, it’s a mad world out there.

Clothes that fit August 12, 2008

It is always important to go for the best possible fit and in today’s day and age if you are petite you do not have to compromise and go for more regular sized clothes and have them resized as there are many companies out there that do cater for petite smaller framed people.

These clothes would be shaped all over for that body frame and you would be far more likely to get a better all over fit.

It would be harder to suggest what shape certain items should be as petite women can have the same fitting issues as taller or middle of the road people would have. You can still have longer legs shorter body or shorter legs, longer body or be top heavy, bottom heavy etc.

The only real ever true way to find your own perfect fit is to buy for your body size, and try things on. Taking advice from any available personal shoppers is also a good idea as would be ready some style books or magazines for ideas for your shape. Take a good long look in the mirror whilst naked, truthfully assess your shape and size but trial and error is the only real way to find what is good for you!

Children clothes August 2, 2008

Childrens clothes go through the wars. Mud, ketchup, juice and grass stains simply cannot be avoided, nor can accidental rips and tears. Whilst children continue to explore, run and play, their clothes are going to go through the motions. Little monsters (or angels, if you are so blessed) have an uncanny habit of growing, usually putting on an inch high growth spurt as soon as you’ve kitted them out in next terms school wear. There is simply no point in dressing your little one in designer wear when they will get 6 months wear from it at most. Less if they damage or stain it.

Most children, as soon as they reach 4 or 5, like to choose their own clothes to a point. Characters and colours which feature highly now are unlikely to in a month or two’s time. Choice and variety is the key. Quality clothes that are well made, but affordable. Simple, brightly coloured and durable. Cord and denim trousers, cotton jumpers, comfortable trainers. Splurge a little for a special occasion, but do so wisely, considering how little wear your child will get from that one item. Parents should always try and remember how uncomfortable they felt as a child when forced to wear scratchy, lacey collars and tight knee high socks and treat their littles ones to some value comfort!
