By their very nature, most accessories are superfluous to necessity. So whatever you decide is a crucial addition to your look, probably provides you no actual material or practical benefit. Good. Just so you are aware!
But accessories are the very fabric of everyday life. Without them, we’d be wandering around in practical, boring, sensible clothing, with large pockets, and cushioned shoes, and generally looking rather horrendous. And looking far worse than a bad choice of accessories can achieve! So what’s the best way to make the right choices?
Simply following the celebrity culture, copying their style, is hardly the answer. They have the money to make every outfit a statement, and not make any mistakes. And they have the egos to make deliberate mistakes, to draw attention towards themselves, if necessary. You’re not in that market. You just want to look good. And you can make perfectly dramatic statements with a budget.
There’s little point in buying into designer goods just to prove yourself to someone, or to everyone. People won’t see you how you think they might. An over-styled accessory can make even a great outfit dull into obscurity, leaving you rather mismatched. Whatever your outfit, make sure you accessorise to compliment your look.
So buy the designer goods if you must, but don’t shun those of a lesser nature, in the interests of status. It’s far better to have a consistent, and affordable look, than to make a misfit bold statement once in a while, in an attempt to appear credible in society that doesn’t suit you. Know your place, and make sure you do it credit!
